Biography

Born in 2000, Yi-Chen Chan began to study piano at the age of five. She studied with Chun-Chieh Yen before further studies in Germany, where she is currently studying with Alexander Schimpf at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover. She has won prizes in numerous competitions, including First Prize in the Vienna Piano Competition and the Taiwan National Student Music Competition both in Taiwan. She was selected for the quarter final round of the 2021 Clara Haskil International Competition. In 2023, she was a Semi-Finalist in the James Mottram International Piano Competition. She has taken part in many festivals, including the Euro Music Festival & Academy, the International Maestro Piano Festival and the NTUE Piano Festival.

 

Due to health reasons the candidates Shotaro Nishimura and Zixi Chen could not participate in the GPP 2022. They received the possibility to participate in this edition.
