Zixi Chen, born in September 2002 in China, finished high school in 2021 at the Music Middle School affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. His current teacher is Prof. Yunlin Yang. He has also attended master classes given by world famous pianists and educators, such as Matti Raekallio, Dang Thai Son, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Andrzej Jasinski, Robert McDonald, etc. Highlights of his competition achievements include second prize in the 2018 International Piano Competition Spanish Composers, Spain, First Prize and Nocturne Prize in the Fourth Asia-Pacific Int’l Chopin Piano Competition 2018, Korea, Second Prize in the Fifth Manchester Int’l Concerto Competition 2017 in the UK, semi-finalist and Chopin Prize in 2017 Int’l Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Kazakhstan, etc.
Due to health reasons the candidates Shotaro Nishimura and Zixi Chen could not participate in the GPP 2022. They received the possibility to participate in this edition.
