Kārlis Gusts Zariņš is one of the most talented young Latvian pianists. He is especially standing out with his creativity and depth of musical understanding. Kārlis has the ability to express music in a special characteristic way and has proven his high work ability and great purposefulness. He has participated in international competitions and has improved his skills with great pianists. In 2019, Kārlis was invited to perform at the festival "Born in Latvia" as soloist with the festival orchestra and organist Iveta Apkalna. Soon after, he was invited to participate at the festival "Organismi" as soloist with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and together with organist Iveta Apkalna.
Due to health reasons the candidates Shotaro Nishimura and Zixi Chen could not participate in the GPP 2022. They received the possibility to participate in this edition.
