Mr. Lee is laureate of numerous international competitions such as: International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Musicians, Val Tidone International Piano Competition, Toronto International Music Competition, and Seoul International Music Competition. In 2014, Taek Gi won the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition as the youngest competitor and was highly acclaimed by Dame Fanny Waterman, who was on the jury for the finals. After winning this, he made his successful debut in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Consequently, he was invited to perform in many venues located in Europe, America, and Korea. He graduated from Curtis Institute of Music and the University of Arts Berlin.
Due to health reasons the candidates Shotaro Nishimura and Zixi Chen could not participate in the GPP 2022. They received the possibility to participate in this edition.
