Hiroki Arakawa learned to play the piano at the Yamaha Music School with Ms. Ikuko Watanabe from 2005 to 2017. Since 2018, he has learned to play the piano with Mr. Keisuke Toyama and Prof. Katsumi Ueda (2018-2020). In 2020, he entered the Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan and learned to play the piano with Prof. Akiyoshi Sako. The pianist won the first prize at the First Piano Competition of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2021 and received the Ariadne Musica Scholarship from the university. He has been selected as an Aoyama Foundation Scholar (2023). In 2024, he entered the Master's Program in Piano at Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan, and has learned to play the piano with Associate Prof. Midori Nohara.
Due to health reasons the candidates Shotaro Nishimura and Zixi Chen could not participate in the GPP 2022. They received the possibility to participate in this edition.
